Queen of the Murderous House of Atreus

I've always had a crush on Diana Rigg, even when she was Queen of the murderous house of Atreus.

This scan was found on the internet, sorry I've lost track of the source.

When I was a little girl, I wanted to be Diana Rigg (as Emma Peel in the Avengers) !

That scan probably came directly or indirectly from Screen Plays, 10 Jun 2011. (Full-sized image is 1500 × 1885.)

Annie, I had SUCH a crush on her as Emma Peel. I didn't exactly want to be John Steed—he was a little too prissy for me, but oh I envied his chitter-chat with Mrs. Peel.

Thanks Daniel, I must've got it from an indirect route.

Well, that gave me a flashback! House of Atreus was also a song by a new wave band called Human Sexual Response. They were around back in the late '70s to early '80s, it's very good. Here's a youtube rip of the song:

Greek Tragedy as punk rock, go figure. Give it a listen, you might like it.

HSR might be best remembered for a song called Land of the Glass Pinecones, which is also on that page.

Now you're talking, Thom. I actually have a 12 inch Emma Peel articulated action-figure. I've got Steed as well - but only because they came as a pair.

Hey Darrell! I just listened in. I DID like it. I was surprised it was so literally about the house of Atreus—"This is the house where evil descends . . . this is the dress stained with a knife . . . blood, blood on the floor," etc.

And cool on Land of the Glass Pinecones that he's playing guitar with a wine bottle.

Kid! An Emma Peel action figure! YoW!

Yeah, Steed can hide in the closet . . . so to speak.

Not exactly authentic archaic Greek costuming here, more inspired by comic books it seems
